Barrriiiinnnnnnggggg. I rush to the phone, expecting Hay Man, or Saddle Pal.
But noooooooo, it's Cami, with the Dove foundation, that's D.O.V.E. May I speak with the Lady of the House? This is not a solicitation.
I hadn't caught her name, so I said "Who is this?"
That's when the fun began.
Listen in.
There was silence. "Who is this?" I repeated.
She then repeated her opening graph.
Ah, thinks I, what fun.
"Yes, this is the Lady of the House". Some would take exception to that, heh.
She asks a question: Do I think that movies are filled with violence, profanity, and wouldn't it be nice if Hollywood would produce movies that reflected better family values. It was a bit rushed, nervous and garbled.
But I started to answer, and after "Well, I think that parents.." when she cut me off and plowed on.
I tried to say "Excuse me..." and on she plowed.
When she drew breath, I shouted "OH, I GET IT, THIS IS A RECORDING!" There was silence, and she says "Am I that bad?"
I replied, "Well, I thought you were a recording." "Oh." says Cami.
"Look, we can hang up, or we can have a conversation if you'd like. Now, what was that first question?"
Rustling of pages, dead air. She clears her throat and reads it again.
Do I think that movies are filled with violence, profanity, and wouldn't it be nice if Hollywood would produce movies that reflected better family values.
I answer that I think parents should be aware of what their kids are watching, and if they don't like it, don't let them watch. Turn off the TV. Don't take them to see that movie. Or pay for them to see it.
It is indeed about Big Bad Hollywood.
She repeats the same question, rephrased, fishing for the answer she wants.
"We don't believe in censorship, but wouldn't it be nice if they would produce..." The emphasis is on "Hollywood producing".
I say that if people want films produced that more closely reflect their values, they should go ahead and produce them.
That there are many independent films being produced, and that if the market is there, they will be successful. That the "family values" crowd needs to put their money where their mouths are.....
She hangs up. LOL.Bwwwwwaaaaahahahahah! Poor Cami. Off script with no clue.
So I go online and google dove family values. Veddy interesting. They produce films. Films that reflect their family values.
So, busybody that I am, I look at the Who We Are page. Name looks familiar. I believe I have seen it on dKos, although I cannot recall the context.
Gordon Toering - Attorney, Warner Norcross & Judd LLP
So I google that. Lo, Behold! Jeff Gordon's Toe Ring.
Mr. Toering is not amused, I am certain. Perhaps he should change the spelling, I am also certain he pronounces it Tow-er-ing or Tower-ing.
Poor Cami. She fell right over.
